My name is Kristen Hawrysz (she/her), a Licensed Professional Counselor dedicated to guiding individuals through their healing journeys with a holistic and trauma-informed approach. As a former educator, my experience ignited a deep passion for helping individuals overcome challenges and discover their strengths, leading me to pursue a career dedicated to personal growth and healing. After the choice to settle in Chicago near family, I obtained my MEd from Loyola University Chicago.
My practice is rooted in the belief that therapy should be a compassionate journey of discovery and empowerment. I prioritize empathy and genuine connection, aiming to create a supportive environment where clients feel valued and understood. My therapeutic approach integrates EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness practices, narrative therapy, and attachment theory, emphasizing trauma-informed care. My focus includes helping those experiencing trauma, depression, anxiety, and related issues, and I have a particular passion for assisting prenatal and postnatal mothers as they navigate the unique transitions of motherhood.
Counseling is a personal journey that requires embracing vulnerability. I am here to provide support and understanding as we collaboratively set meaningful goals and navigate the path of learning, discovery, and growth together. Together, we will work towards enhancing your well-being and achieving the personal growth you seek, step by step.
Outside of work, I love exploring the city with my children, spending time with my husband and our dog, and enjoying gatherings with extended family nearby. I find relaxation through workouts, puzzles, podcasts, and reading up on different counseling approaches.
I look forward to partnering with you on your journey towards healing and self-discovery. Together, we'll navigate challenges and celebrate your progress, fostering growth and well-being.
