Getting to know Kristen Hernandez

My name is Kris Hernandez. I am a licensed therapist with about 15 years of experience and hold a Master's in Clinical Social Work from Barry University. My career has been a winding road of extraordinary experiences that ultimately led me to open Olive Branch Mental Health. I am passionate about mental health and creating a unique space specialized in meeting the needs of women in my community. I believe in supporting women to rediscover their worth, understand the impact of their story, and begin living the life they always deserved. As my practice grew, I knew I had to expand beyond one-on-one therapy to impact more women. I have been providing large and small public speaking events for over a decade and have recently begun hosting a podcast dedicated to moms. A few “extra” things about me: I am NOT a smile-and-nod therapist. We will get real and face the challenges together. I do not want to waste your time, and I want you to enjoy your time in therapy. Some sessions will have tears, laughter, and everything in between. I live by the statement of “appreciative curiosity and kindness.” In every interaction, I am grateful for anything someone will share, and I am always curious to learn and understand more about those I meet. I am a mom, which means I truly understand some of the everyday pressures that come with being a mom. I have been married for 10 years. I mentor and supervise new and upcoming social workers. I am a HUGE Chicago Blackhawks and Miami Heat fan! I am a trauma survivor. I am training our dog Spidey to be a therapy dog in the office for clients who are interested.
