Getting to know Kristen Herrmann

I am a licensed mental health counselor in New York with 15 years of professional experience practicing individual and group therapy. I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from LIU Post. I believe everyone deserves support, love, and opportunities to heal and grow. Happiness is a fundamental human right, and every person deserves to experience joy, peace, and fulfillment in their life. It's not just about external circumstances but also about inner peace, self-acceptance, and the ability to find meaning in life, even in the face of challenges. Everyone's path to happiness may look different, and it's important to recognize that it takes time, effort, and hard work to discover what brings true contentment.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work with clients navigating a broad range of challenges, including anxiety, life stressors, addiction, relationship difficulties, and family conflict. I also specialize in supporting parents and caregivers of neurodiverse children as they manage daily challenges and prioritize their own well-being. My therapeutic approach is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in the belief that healing begins in a safe, nonjudgmental space. I believe that seeking support is a courageous and empowering step toward a more balanced and fulfilling life. Using an eclectic and holistic framework, I tailor each session to your unique needs. Drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, and solution-focused techniques, I help you build resilience, access your inner strengths, and move forward with clarity and confidence.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Every session is tailored to you and your unique needs. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where you can openly explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. While I’ll help guide the conversation, you are always in control of what we focus on. Therapy is a collaborative process, and your comfort and autonomy are central to our work together. My ultimate aim is to help you build a more balanced, fulfilling, and empowered life by offering the tools, insight, and support you need to navigate life’s challenges.

I loved my visit with Kristen. She was very professional and on time. I felt extremely comfortable talking to her and introducing my problems. She was very receptive when I spoke and gave excellent advice.
I’ve been working with Kristen for the past six months, and I honestly can’t overstate how much she’s helped me grow. From our very first session, she created a space that felt safe, supportive, and completely judgment-free. Through talk therapy, she’s helped me learn how to navigate difficult situations without letting them overwhelm me. One of the biggest changes I’ve seen in myself is how I handle conflict—Kristen has given me tools to approach things with clarity and calm, rather than anxiety or self-blame. She’s also helped me break the habit of internalizing everything, which has been a huge shift for my mental and emotional well-being. Kristen is compassionate, insightful, and incredibly grounding. I always leave our sessions feeling more connected to myself and more confident in how I move through the world. I’m so grateful for the work we’ve done together.
Kristen is very professional and understanding. I personally felt as though Kristen gathered as much information as possible to best provide solutions that worked for me. She also has the ability to understand conversations or topics that are delicate for me and approach them with ease while still making sure any underlying issues are addressed.
Kristen is a compassionate therapist that gave me useful feedback through talk therapy and helped me to build techniques to manage my anxiety outside of sessions.
I have been working with Kristen for a few months now and she is amazing! Our sessions have been super helpful and I’m grateful for the tools and resources she provides. I feel like she has really made an effort to get to know me and understand me. Would recommend her to anyone.
Kristen is an amazing theripist. I went to her with specific issues I needed to address she helped me process them while identifying my feelings and emotions surrounding them. She gave me tools and coping mechanisms that have changed my life for the better. I feel like I can face any of my future issues with these tools while safely putting my old issues to rest. I can’t thank her enough for her honesty and professionalism. I had bad experiences with past therapists and was about to give up. I’m so happy I found Kristen. She is kind, thoughtful and has the ability to listen. Her insight is outstanding and her understanding is second to none, she is always nonjudgmental and positive. I cannot recommend her enough. Thank you Kristen
