Psychotherapist

I strongly believe that the key to success in therapy is having a good therapeutic relationship with your therapist because, without it, therapy can be challenging-it's hard to be vulnerable and to trust the process. I hold a Master's in Counseling from California State University, Bakersfield, and have years of training and experience geared toward helping clients with anxiety, trauma, depression, bipolar II, self-esteem issues, grief, relationship difficulties, and phase-of-life problems. I bring a great deal of empathy and compassion into my sessions, and I pride myself on that because I believe it's important for healing and for working toward being your most authentic self. I also use a mix of strength-based interventions, psychoeducation, changing problematic thinking and behaviors, and mindfulness practices. I can't make any guarantees to healing, but in my experience, making yourself a priority and working on your self-awareness can only bring you one step closer to finding inner peace and healing. I'll leave it with this: ?When we have the courage to walk into our story and own it, we get to write the ending.? ? Bren? Brown. It's my honor to support you on your journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In the first session, the goal is to explore what is bringing you to therapy, how your symptoms have been impacting different areas of your life, your expectations of therapy and any past history for therapy, your goal for therapy, exploring best therapy approach for your goal and collaborating with the client to make sure that approach lines up with what they would like. Some client's are unsure initially and as sessions go on, and they may not like the approach which is totally okay. We just change direction with the therapy intervention to best suite with what the client needs and wants.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Every session with usually start with what has been better or different between the last session and current session. The middle of the session with focus on processing and working towards your goal in therapy. The end of session will usually end with the question of "what would you like to do for yourself between now and next session" as what you do outside of therapy is where you're going to see the change, so I usually end with this question to have clients think of how they would like to be mindful and make changes in between sessions.
