Getting to know Kristi Abbot

Hello, I’m Kristi Abbott, LCSW, an experienced psychotherapist dedicated to helping individuals navigate challenges and find healing and growth. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from San Diego State University and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Davis. My approach My primary theoretical orientation is developmental, meaning I believe our past experiences shape who we are today, including our view of self, others, and the world. I utilize modalities such as IFS, CBT, DBT, and mindfulness in a holistic manner to best meet each client’s needs. I am also trained in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy for clients receiving psychedelic treatment who want to explore and integrate their experiences into therapy. My focus I work with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, trauma, grief, and life transitions such as relationship difficulties, parenting, or job loss/change. My communication style With a compassionate and non-judgmental approach, I create a safe and supportive space for you to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. I believe therapy is collaborative, and together, we will identify and overcome obstacles while fostering insight, resilience, and empowerment. My journey to mental healthcare I knew early on I wanted to be in the helping profession. I am fascinated by human thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and knew I could make a difference by pursuing therapy. My goals for you I believe goal setting is a collaborative effort. Setting goals together ensures we both know where we’re going and how we plan to get there. My first session with you The first session will help me understand what brought you to therapy and your goals. I will take your history to begin understanding the experiences that have shaped you.
