But whoever convinced Lifestance that patients should check themselves in- they should be fired. Regardless of how much you “educate the patient” on the process, it will not save time or manpower. In addition, it’s completely NON patient centric for anyone who is older and not computer/smart phone savvy.”

Getting to know Dr. Kristi Tanaka
Dr. Kristi K. Tanaka is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Texas practicing since 2001. She earned her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Hawai‘i in 2001 and completed her PsyD in Clinical Psychology at the Hawai‘i School of Professional Psychology Program at Argosy University, Hawai‘i. Dr. Tanaka also completed a fellowship at the Present Mind Institute of Hawaii and an internship at the Oahu Community Correctional Center.
Seeking therapy requires courage and strength. Dr. Tanaka is honored to provide a safe, accepting, and nurturing environment where she listens and understands your concerns. She believes this fosters a genuine, trusting relationship to collaboratively develop goals and strategies to better understand yourself, your thought processes, relationships, and improve your quality of life.
Dr. Tanaka works with adolescents and adults on issues including depression, anxiety, addiction, life transitions, PTSD, military combat and family issues, LGBT concerns, co-dependency, grief and loss, suicide, and more. She uses an integrative approach grounded in humanistic theory, incorporating psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral techniques. Her experience equips her to work with adults, adolescents, children, and families with complex lives, including those with dual diagnoses, substance abuse, severe mental illness, and trauma.
Outside work, Dr. Tanaka prioritizes quality time with family, enjoying movies, dining out, sports games, and music concerts. She loves animals and has a cat and dog who bring her joy. She also crochets to relax.
