Getting to know Kristian Hunt

**NOT IN NETWORK WITH MEDICARE AND MEDICAID** We all have our own talents and skills that can evolve us to become better emotionally intelligent persons. My goal is to help motivate and elicit each person’s strengths and abilities while enhancing their motivation, confidence, and better understanding of oneself. I prioritize making the therapeutic connection effective and beneficial for anyone who sits across from me, regardless of creed, color, gender, or orientation. The therapeutic alliance is like driving. The client is the driver; I, as the therapist, am the passenger making sure to maintain awareness of the signs, speed limits, traffic, accidents, and detours. My clinical therapeutic modalities consist of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Play Therapy. My style is eclectic, and the usage of modalities will be personalized to each person. I possess a positive and effective willingness to work above and beyond to elicit your strengths and talents during our work together. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I will be happy to serve you as your therapist.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My specialty is working with young adults who struggle with low self-esteem, lack of identity, and relationship issues who would benefit from both psychotherapy and life skills coaching.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Please view our counseling process as an educational experience. You can learn more about yourself and gain better coping skills. I will always demonstrate support, empathy, and compassion during our work together. My approach is client-centered, strength-based and meeting you where you're at is vital. During your treatment planning, we will develop goals pertaining to but not limited to enhancing your strengths, problem solving techniques, coping skills, and eliciting an overall healthy quality of life. Making sure you're comfortable and having a safe space to process your feelings and concerns will be a priority.

I look forward to my weekly sessions with Kristian. He takes time with preparation and getting to the core root of what is impacting you. He brings knowledge and insight but is very relatable, funny and intriguing in the process.
I’m very happy with my sessions with Kristian Hunt. He is welcoming and does a great job of facilitating helpful dialog. He does a good job of assigning a variety of effective take home assignments as well. My only bit of critical feedback is that I wish we more consistently jumped into core session topics quicker. At times, we spend too much time at the beginning of sessions talking before we get into the critical topics and assignment follow-ups.
Very professional. Reasonable in his approach, and Kristian does a good job in guiding his clients to the proper conclusions instead of telling them how they should approach certain situations. Definitely an asset to the field of psychology
After seeing many therapists and not feeling as though any of them truly cared or understood what I needed out of it, I was not too sure therapy would be for me. However, once I began doing weekly sessions with Kristian Hunt, I completely changed my mind. I have been meeting with him for the past few months now, and it is definitely one of the best decisions I have made for my mental health! He is kind, honest, understanding, and uses different techniques and treatment plans based upon individual needs. I can honestly say that I have seen vast improvement in my mental health in a short period of time (without the use of medication) all thanks to the skills that Kristian has been able to teach me. He is very personable and easy to talk to, and I would 100% recommend seeking him for therapy!
Very helpful
Great listener. I will definitely see again.
