Lotus Mind Therapy reflects the way I practice therapy: thoughtful, grounded, and deeply relational. My work is trauma-informed and client-centered, with an emphasis on pacing, collaboration, and emotional safety. I do not take a one-size-fits-all approach or rush the therapeutic process. In addition to professional training, my work is shaped by lived experience, including navigating grief, neurodiversity, and complex family dynamics. These experiences inform my empathy and attunement while remaining secondary to evidence-based practice and ethical care. Therapy remains focused on your experience, goals, and readiness.

Getting to know Kristin Holland-Pitts

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, especially if you've spent a long time taking care of everyone else, feeling misunderstood, or wondering why life feels harder than it seems to for other people. My goal is to create a space where you don't have to mask, perform, or have everything figured out before you walk through the door. I work with adults, older adolescents, and couples navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, ADHD, neurodivergence, relationship challenges, life transitions, identity exploration, and dissociation. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming, sex-positive, and welcome clients from diverse relationship structures and backgrounds. I don't believe therapy is one-size-fits-all. I tailor each session to your needs by integrating approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed work, Narrative Therapy, EMDR, DBT skills, and practical problem-solving strategies. Some sessions focus on processing difficult emotions, while others emphasize building concrete skills you can use between appointments. Clients often tell me they appreciate that I explain concepts in ways that make sense, using metaphors, visual tools, worksheets, and real-life examples rather than clinical jargon. My own experience living with ADHD has shaped the way I practice, allowing me to better understand challenges with executive functioning, overwhelm, and feeling "too much" or "not enough." I intentionally keep my caseload small so I can provide individualized care rather than making clients feel like just another appointment on my schedule. Whether you're working through a recent crisis or long-standing patterns, we'll move at a pace that feels safe while still helping you make meaningful progress. Therapy doesn't require you to be perfect before you begin. You simply need a place to start. My hope is that you'll leave sessions feeling understood, supported, and equipped with practical tools to help you move toward the life you want.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Every client is different, so I don't believe in a rigid treatment plan or a one-size-fits-all approach. Our first few sessions focus on getting to know you, understanding what brought you to therapy, identifying your strengths, and clarifying what you hope will be different as a result of our work together. We move at a pace that feels safe while still encouraging meaningful growth. As therapy progresses, we work together to understand patterns rather than simply treating symptoms. We'll explore the experiences, beliefs, relationships, and coping strategies that have shaped your life while building practical skills you can use outside of sessions. Depending on your goals, we may incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed work, Narrative Therapy, EMDR, DBT skills, attachment-focused interventions, or other evidence-based approaches. I tend to explain concepts using metaphors, visual tools, worksheets, and real-life examples because understanding the "why" behind our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors can make change feel more manageable. Sessions are collaborative and conversational rather than prescriptive. I view therapy as something we do together—not something I do to you. Throughout the process, we'll regularly check in on your progress and adjust our approach as your needs evolve. Some seasons of therapy focus on processing trauma or grief, while others emphasize improving relationships, developing healthier coping skills, strengthening self-compassion, or navigating major life transitions. My goal is for you to leave therapy with more than insight. I want you to develop practical tools, greater confidence in yourself, and a deeper understanding of your own values and strengths so you can continue making progress long after our work together ends.
