Psychotherapist
1870 W Winchester Rd, Ste 203, Libertyville, IL
Kristin Patten, LCPC | I wear many hats. One of them is the hat of a therapist. I also wear the hat of a mother of four, wife of one, singer in my church worship team, techno geek, shopper, planner, social coordinator, and step-mother of two young adults-just to name a few. I have worked with youth for over 18 years. I have parented a traumatized child, as I met my stepsons at ages 2 and 5. I have always loved working with teens and younger kids, and now their parents. I am passionate about helping parents and their kids navigate through their childhood and teen years. I'd love for you to know that I love my job! Since I was 16, my desire to be a marriage therapist has turned into a fulfilling life and career. I earned my Master's in Counseling Psychology from Trinity International University, and I feel honored to walk with other humans through a season of their life. I try my hardest to use my education to support each person and family in the way that works best for them!

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is more directive than non-directive. My thought process is, folks have reached out to a therapist for a reason, and they are looking for direct feedback about their situation. I try to that in a supportive way.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I typically do a 3 session assessment. The first with youth and parent(s), the second with just the youth and third with just parents. Then moving forward, I like to see the youth weekly and the parents biweekly on top of that to ensure accountability and true effectiveness.
