Kristina Ricker, LCSW

Kristina Ricker, LCSW

Psychotherapist
NY
I hold multiple Master’s degrees and a PhD, and I have completed advanced training in psychodynamic theory to deepen my clinical understanding of human development, emotional patterns, and relational dynamics. For over 15 years, I have worked extensively with first responders, active duty military service members, veterans, and their families. Working with first responders, active and retired military, and individuals who have endured other various means of trauma has been a life changing experience for me. This experience has provided me with specialized insight into the unique stressors, transitions, and resilience factors present within these communities. My work is grounded in respect, cultural awareness, and a collaborative approach that honors each client’s strengths, experiences, and goals for therapy. I believe therapy works best as a collaborative process. We will work together to identify your goals, explore what is most helpful for you, and adjust our approach as your needs evolve. Your feedback is always welcome and encouraged. Depending on your needs and preferences, we may draw from one or more evidence based approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, Trauma Informed Approaches, and Skills Based Strategies. We will discuss which approaches resonate most with you and tailor our work accordingly. Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a safe, supportive, and collaborative therapeutic relationship. You are welcome to share at your own pace, and there is no pressure to talk about anything before you feel ready. We may cover what brings you to therapy at this time, current concerns, challenges, or stressors, relevant background information, your goals, hopes, and expectations for therapy, and previous therapy experiences.
