Psychotherapist
WV
Hello. I'm Kristina Wiley, a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of West Virginia. I have been in practice as an LPC for over 20 years and I am compassionate about helping others find who they are and overcoming traumatic events in their life. As a metal health provider, I use a variety of therapeutic approaches, including but not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialetical Behavioral therapy (DBT), Person-Centered, Motivaltional Interviewing (MI), Reality Therapy, and Rational Emotive Therapy, too name a few. My approach The most sought after approach to therapy is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); however, the therapy approach is dependent on your needs. The therapy approach in your therapy will be tailored to what you need and to what works best for your presenting issues. My focus I am most comfortable working with individuals that are 15 years and older. The issues can range from depression and anxiety to traumatic events and personality disorders. My communication style I like to create a calm and relaxing environment for my clients. Working with me, you will feel safe and secure from a nonjudgmental approach. My journey to mental healthcare The desire to help people started when I was young and my parents volunteered at the local fire department where I saw others in need. My journey as a counselor started after I worked as a emergency medical technician- Paramedic. As a Paramedic I could help by tending to their medical needs but we were not trained to handle most psychological needs; I wanted to help those in need and not just the physical. I enjoy my career as a counselor and helping those who are hurting emotionally. I am blessed that I have the skills, desire, and knowledge to help. My goals for you i encourage client's to set goals in therapy that can be achieved in 3, 6, and 9 months. Along with setting goals, clients need to have a goal or reward for themselves when they reach their goal.
