Getting to know Krystal Wheeler

Hello, I'm Krystal. My journey to becoming a mental health professional began when my husband, an Army veteran, was diagnosed with PTSD. This personal experience ignited my passion for helping others navigate their mental health challenges. I earned my degrees in psychology and social work from Ohio University and went on to pursue a master's degree in Clinical (Mental Health) Social Work from The Ohio State University. With a background rooted in rigorous academic training, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to my practice. I have extensive experience working with military veterans, law enforcement officers, corrections officers, firefighters, and many other professionals, helping them process and heal from their experiences. My specializations include anxiety, depression, family relationships, gender identity, grief and bereavement, intimate and romantic relationships, LGBTQIA+ support, life transitions, military and veteran support, PTSD, stress, and trauma. I am fully trained in EMDR, CPT, and DBT, and hold numerous certifications in mindfulness, body-based coping, and other somatic work. These tools allow me to offer a comprehensive and tailored approach to each client's unique needs. Navigating life's transition points, such as divorce, retirement, and aging, can be challenging, and I am here to support you through these changes. I am also experienced in working with individuals in the LGBTQIA+ community, providing a safe and affirming space for all. As a member of Gen X, I bring a unique perspective to my practice that resonates with many of my clients.
