Kyla Burkey, LICSW

Psychotherapist
MA
Hey everyone, I'm Kyla! I am a licensed clinical social worker (LICSW) who has worked with all populations in my career as both an Outpatient Therapist and Social Worker in the state of Massachusetts. I have worked in several mental health settings throughout the years and have found my passion to be working with the adult mental health population, especially surrounding trauma-informed care with young adults. Most of us have experienced a great deal of pain and suffering at one point in our lives, and to be honest, I wouldn't want to see a therapist who has never understood this or experienced their own level of trauma. Resiliency is what keeps us growing and progressing in life, and I want to help you better understand what this means and how to achieve it. I follow a very Humanistic approach to conducting therapy and really want you to understand that you do have intrinsic value as a person with very unique needs and goals. No two people are the same, even if it's easy for us to compare ourselves to others. I call it "the shoulds" where we often state, for example, "I should have accomplished more at this point in my life" or "I never should have dated that person." We learn very hard lessons on a daily basis, but it's what we do with these experiences that determine how to best handle our own behaviors and emotions going forward. We'll first establish your biopsychosocial where we'll look at your environment, who you are as a person, and what supports you have in place to best utilize in order to build a stronger you! All pieces of the puzzle are very important to recognize in order to better understand areas in your life that may need to be changed or removed. Is your goal to better understand the reasons why you've been struggling most of your life? Is the anxiety too much to bear to function in your day-to-day life? Are you someone who thinks "everything bad always happens to me"? Let's talk about it and begin the process of healing. Contact me if you think we'd be a good fit. I look forward to hearing from you!
