Getting to know Kyntra Lighten

Hello, just a little about me. I have been married for 28 years and have three children between the ages of 25 and 32. I have spent my entire career in the helping field with an extensive background in trauma. I earned my MEd in Counseling from the University of Louisiana Monroe and have been licensed as a Professional Counselor since 2004. I am certified as a Registered Play Therapist, hold a credential as a Sand Tray Therapist, and am trained in EMDR. I love ongoing training to improve my skills and learn the newest techniques to better serve my clients. Although I am trained and certified in a variety of modalities, my approach to therapy is prescriptive. I feel it is important to have the knowledge to meet the client's needs and not focus on just one modality that may not be as effective as another. I want to ensure that I tailor my skills to the needs of each client. My clients can expect to leave my sessions feeling heard and validated in a safe space. I want my clients to feel that they have learned new and improved skills to help them better manage their emotional needs. Ultimately, the goal is to help the client feel more empowered, more rational in their cognitive process, and more confident that they are able to effectively manage and regulate their emotions.
