"The provider is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern" At Elsie’s Place, I offer trauma-informed, holistic mental health care grounded in compassion, neuroscience, and the belief that true healing involves the mind, body, and spirit. I specialize in supporting teens, adults, and couples navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction recovery, codependency, and disordered eating. Many of the individuals I work with feel stuck in unexplainable cycles or overwhelmed by the weight of their past. My goal is to help you uncover the deeper roots of what you’re experiencing—not just manage symptoms, but understand and heal from the inside out. My approach is integrative and collaborative. I draw from person-centered, mindfulness-based, and attachment-focused modalities, as well as Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic therapies, and the Gottman Method for couples. I incorporate practical tools such as grounding techniques, communication skills, journaling prompts, and nervous system regulation strategies that can be used both in and outside of sessions. I also offer space for faith and spirituality to be part of the healing process, if that aligns with your values. I believe that trauma often lives in the body, and that our physical health—particularly gut health and nutrition—can play a major role in how we experience and regulate emotion. I often work with clients to explore the gut-brain connection, helping them recognize how inflammation, food sensitivities, and chronic stress may be contributing to mental and emotional symptoms. This holistic lens allows for a more complete picture of healing—one that honors every part of your story. Healing is not linear, but it is possible. If you're ready to step into a space that meets you with curiosity, compassion, and a whole-person perspective, I would be honored to walk alongside you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

When you work with me, you can expect a space that is warm, curious, and rooted in safety. I believe healing happens in relationship—not just the relationship you have with me as your therapist, but the one you begin to rebuild with yourself. My approach is grounded in compassion, neuroscience, and a deep respect for your lived experience. I show up as my full self, and I invite you to do the same—without pressure or performance. I don’t believe in “fixing” people. I believe in uncovering the wisdom your body and mind already hold. Our work together will be collaborative, paced according to your readiness, and tailored to your specific needs. I integrate a range of approaches, including person-centered therapy, mindfulness, Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment-based work, somatic awareness, and trauma-informed care. For couples, I often use the Gottman Method to strengthen communication and emotional connection. If you’ve ever felt like traditional therapy didn’t quite “get it,” or like parts of your story were overlooked—especially related to the body, spirituality, or nutrition—you may feel seen here. I place special emphasis on the mind-body connection, including how gut health and nutritional patterns affect mental well-being. We may talk about food, fatigue, inflammation, and cravings not as isolated issues, but as clues that your body is asking for support. When relevant, I also welcome faith-based exploration and reflection. You don’t need to have the “right words” when you arrive. You don’t need to come with a perfectly told story. Many of my clients come in feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, or unsure of where to start. That’s okay. I’ll meet you exactly where you are, with no judgment—just curiosity, clinical tools, and compassion.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process is intentionally gentle, collaborative, and rooted in safety. During our first few sessions, I focus on getting to know you—your story, what brings you to therapy, and what your goals, hopes, or concerns might be. I often say that we move at the speed of trust. I want you to feel seen and heard, without pressure to disclose more than you're ready to share. Together, we’ll start building a foundation for the work ahead. A typical session may involve talking through life events, exploring emotional patterns, or connecting the dots between past experiences and present symptoms. I listen not only to your words, but to your body language, nervous system cues, and how you feel emotionally and physically. I also incorporate tools that support nervous system regulation—like breathwork, grounding exercises, mindfulness, and somatic awareness—so that healing isn’t just cognitive, but embodied. Over time, we’ll identify recurring patterns in your relationships, thought processes, or behaviors that may be keeping you stuck. I use a combination of Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment theory, and trauma-informed approaches to help you understand these patterns without shame—and to begin shifting them with self-compassion. We may also explore how nutrition, inflammation, and gut health could be influencing your emotional well-being, especially if you’re struggling with fatigue, mood swings, or cravings. I frequently offer reflective prompts, journaling suggestions, and practical tools you can use between sessions. If you're in a season where you're feeling disconnected from your body, emotions, or faith, therapy can be a place to begin reconnecting. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling a little more grounded, a little more empowered, and a little more you.
