Getting to know LaCrease Curtis

LaCrease has been a licensed psychotherapist for twelve years and a social worker for over 25 years. She has experience working with client's struggling with Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, ADHD, Substance Use Disorders, Infectious Diseases and Caregiver burnout to name a few. She received her undergraduate degree in Forensic Psychology with the hopes of becoming a criminal profiler and a graduate degree as a Master Social Worker. LaCrease is proud to be a third generation social worker, the first being her maternal grandmother after which her mother became a social worker as well. LaCrease can oftentimes be found listening to music and crafting all kinds of DIY projects.

I felt welcomed, comfortable, and most importantly, heard just in my first session.
Unfortunately, her positive reviews did not reflect in my appointment. She got on the call looking like she just woke up and remembered she had an appointment. She barely introduced herself and just started the session. Honestly, I felt like she was listening but not really hearing me. She didn’t show any real interest in getting to know me. All of her questions and responses were generic. She asked me what I’m looking for in therapy, I told her, and she told me that it seems like I already have all of the tools/am self-aware, I just have to use them… It felt like the beginning and ending of therapy with her. The session was so long and felt like we got nowhere and there wasn’t an attempt to establish a rapport. I’m disappointed I wasted my time and energy.
