Getting to know Laila Ashkazari

My approach to therapy is authentic, strength-based and multimodal. No two people are alike and no two people receive the same therapy. Your experience is tailored for what you need. We start where you are and work together to create attainable goals to get you to where you want to be. You will experience a combination of therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solutions-Focused, Trauma-Informed, Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioral (DBT), EMDR., and Play. I know that life can be difficult sometimes and I am here to help you work through the challenges and patterns that keep you stuck.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is trauma-informed, client-centered, and strengths-based. I draw from various therapy modalities to best fit your needs during each session.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

First session is always more historical in nature as this is an intake session. I will gather information about your past including medical history, mental health history, family history, social history and academic history. We will also discuss goals and what brings you to therapy today. The next few sessions will include more rapport building, and focus on the issues that you are having. We will problem solve if needed, and I will help you process with the therapy modality is appropriate (ie. trauma-focused, solutions-focused, mindfulness-focused, or EMDR processing).

I have been working with Laila for years and would recommend her to anyone I know who is looking for a therapist.

She seemed like a good therapist but beware. She seems to over promise. Said she could see me on a particular day we agreed to and then cancelled all of my subsequent appointments. I understand things can change but it was handled poorly and ultimately she just dropped me. It was hard for me to make this decision to seek help. It’s only going to be that much harder next time.
