Psychotherapist

Welcome to my page! If you are here, then one of the hardest parts is done! The idea of therapy can be so intimidating for most, but I hope you will allow me the opportunity to break some of the negative stigma and go on this journey together. Therapy can be challenging, but discomfort is where change happens. Have you been a victim of generational trauma and are ready to break the cycle? Are you struggling with the next step in your life and feel stuck? Are you having trouble connecting with others or managing your relationships? Has boundary setting been difficult for you? Do you struggle with communication? Are you and your partner struggling to connect? If you have answered yes to any of these questions, I may be the right fit for you! If you're wondering if we would be a good fit but I did not list a stressor for you, no worries-reach out to me and we can do a quick consultation. I hold a Master's in Mental Health Counseling from St. John Fisher University, and I am committed to supporting you through your growth. You will laugh, you will cry, you will swear, but with me, you will grow. You ARE ready! Let's connect! Best, Keisha

What should a new client know about working with you?

My goal in therapy is to provide a space that feels open, light, and comfortably-uncomfortable. Keisha, what does that mean? Great question! I want you to feel comfortable with me as a therapist but I will challenge you in ways that may feel temporarily uncomfortable. I will sit with you in those times as you find perspective and grow. AND it is important to remember that the feeling is temporary and you need to know what it feels like to get to the other side.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I have worked with individuals and families for over 8 years in a variety of settings including children and family services, family therapy, pediatric therapy, and adult therapy. I use a combination of approaches including but not limited to narrative approach, cognitive behavioral therapy, person centered, strengths based, and trauma focused care. I practice talk therapy and as stated before it can be hard at times because you may feel challenged and I may ask you to view situations and thought patterns from multiple angles. I will try to help you identify patterns or cycles and find ways to break them.
