What should a new client know about working with you?

I have been in the helping profession for the past 32 years, my unique strengths lie in a combination of qualities and skills that foster trust, insight, and growth in my clients. Here’s what sets me apart: 1. Empathy and Authenticity: I prioritize creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel truly seen and heard. My ability to deeply empathize helps clients feel validated and supported, which is critical for fostering growth and resilience. 2. Intuitive Listening: I listen not only to what’s being said but also to the underlying emotions, patterns, and nonverbal cues. This allows me to grasp the full picture of a client’s experience and address core issues effectively. 3. Adaptability and Flexibility: I tailor therapeutic approaches to the individual needs of each client. Whether they thrive with structured tools (like CBT) or need space for emotional exploration (as in psychodynamic or EFT), I adapt my methods to align with their goals and preferences. 4. Cultural Competency: I approach therapy with respect for diversity in culture, gender, sexuality, and life experiences. I strive to understand the unique contexts of my clients’ lives and integrate this understanding into my therapeutic approach. 5. Commitment to Ongoing Growth: I stay updated on the latest research and techniques in psychotherapy, continually refining my skills. My passion for learning ensures I offer clients evidence-based, effective interventions. 6. Integrative Approach: I’m skilled at combining multiple therapeutic modalities to address the multifaceted nature of human experience—balancing emotional, cognitive, and relational needs. This holistic perspective helps clients navigate challenges more comprehensively. 7. Focus on Empowerment: My goal isn’t just to solve immediate problems but to empower clients with tools and insights they can carry forward. I believe in helping clients build resilience and autonomy, making therapy a transformative and lasting experience.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I provide a non-judgmental environment that comes from a place of calm, compassion, and empathy. I also seek to understand the client's needs and expectations for therapy in addition to collecting information about symptoms, upbringing, medical and mental health history, family, and social interactions to get a full picture of the client’s needs; I then create an environment that will allow the client to increase their awareness, freedom, and self-direction in exploring different solutions for their goals.
