I work with a variety of client's issues including those mentioned above. Some of my clients have several things in common when they talk about their fears, anxiety, stress or relatonship problems: the trauma that comes from growing up with an emotionally or physically abusive parent or trauma that occurred outside of the family. This can be especially true if they struggled with AD/HD or Autism or had a parent who abused drugs or alcohol. These childhood and later experiences may cause them to struggle in relationships because they do not feel equal or respected and fear abandonment. Clients may be frustrated, unhappy, frightened or angry about their relationships whether those relationships are with their partner, boss or with a someone important to them, Particularly, in romantic relationships, these frustrations can take the form of feeling controlled, treated as “less than” or dismissed and having your feelings ignored or ridiculed. They find it difficult to ask for the respect and value that they want and need. Helping clients through these issues is one of my specialties. In our society, there are unwritten rules about how men and women should act and react. Men may find it difficult to stay calm while women find it difficult to ask for or demand the respect and value that they want, need and deserve. Many are taught to fear confrontation. Fortunately, these fears can be replaced with easy-to-use communication tools that can transform a feared confrontation into a positve and supportive heartfelt conversation. I also work with families and teens who struggle in school, with friends and with their parents. I see pre-teens and teens and help them deal with anxiety, depression, cutting, tics, ADHD, and high-functioning Autism. I use "sand-tray" to help teens and pre-teens work through their issues without having to talk. (Its amazing!) I have worked with thousands of children and teens (and their parents) over the last 25 years.
