Getting to know LaToya Carter

Hi, I'm LaToya, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Houston, Texas. I hold an Associate's degree from Houston Community College, a Bachelor's degree and a Master's in Social Work from the University of Houston. I specialize in supporting individuals through grief and loss, anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, coping skills, and life transitions. I am also a Certified Nephrology Social Worker with extensive experience working with adults diagnosed with end-stage renal disease, chronic illnesses, and chronic pain. My background includes working in a variety of healthcare settings, including home health, substance use/abuse and mental health agencies, as well as outpatient dialysis centers. This diverse experience allows me to offer a comprehensive, empathetic approach to help clients navigate both emotional and physical challenges. My therapeutic approach is collaborative and interactive. I am person-centered focused and utilize a strengths-based approach in practice. My goal is to provide a non-judgmental, comfortable, supportive, and safe therapeutic environment where my clients will take away a feeling of being heard, seen, and respected during our sessions.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Our first initial session will be a rapport building session that will allow us to get to know one another and to help me learn more about you. My goal is to ensure that our therapeutic relationship is the best fit and that your needs can be addressed in our sessions. Once we have made the mutual decision to move forward, we will create a treatment plan based on your identified needs and goals and set a schedule for your sessions.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
