Getting to know Laura Abreu

You are a millennial woman who is undergoing major life change. Perhaps you are starting school, are about to undergo major career change or want to/are about to become a mom. You are dealing with anxiety or perhaps are stuck in indecision and feeling depressed. There are so many issues with identity that come up during these major changes in life like: who am I now? Can I undertake this new challenge? Will I fail? Through our work together, I can help you uncover how your past has shaped you and how to release past traumatic experiences so that you can have the freedom to step into your highest self. I am a BIPOC therapist that practices from an anti oppressive/anti racist and social justice orientation. I uniquely understand the struggles of being a person of color and growing up in an immigrant family within a white dominant society. Having grown up in NYC and practiced therapy with a diverse population of clients, I have a special understanding of cultural diversity and this cultural sensitivity is at the forefront of my practice. I have a passion for dismantling the systems that disenfranchise minorities and believe that inner healing and healing generational trauma is the first step in mobilizing our communities. As the great Lauryn Hill once said, "how you gonna win when you ain't right within?".
