Getting to know Laura Aiken

Sometimes life gets tough. You go through unspeakable trauma. You may struggle with addiction. You get stuck in a cycle you feel you’ll never break free from. You may struggle with anxiety and depression, or feel lost and don’t know what your next steps are. My goal is to help you sort through these emotions and struggles in a safe and judgement-free environment. I am a strong believer in empowering my clients to live happy and successful lives. I want you to find joy in your day-to-day activities and achieve your goals. The therapy process is about you and what you need. Because of this, I use an eclectic method of combining experiential therapies, such as nature therapy, as well as more traditional approaches based on your individual needs. I have a therapy dog-in-training that frequently accompanies me (if you are uncomfortable with dogs just let me know) I am a licensed professional counselor working with ages 13 and up. My clients have reported that I am genuine, easy to talk to and have a calming presence. Prior to my LPC I spent several years working at a residential for women with substance use disorder, at a community agency and the youth detention center, so I have worked with a wide range of clients.
