“Laura is so kind and thoughtful. I always felt heard and understood, and I was able to make present connections to previous moments in my life easily through her guidance. Therapy can be overwhelming but Laura is warm and approachable, and I felt like I could come to her no matter what state I was in without judgement.”

Getting to know Laura Caruso

Many of my clients feel that they are stuck in a pattern of attracting toxic or emotionally unavailable partners. As your therapist, with a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from New York University, I want you to feel worthy of a healthy and wholesome life. Together, we will explore your relational patterns and strengthen your understanding of your true self, leading to higher-quality connections. You will feel confident and empowered in your authenticity.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I help clients find emotional balance, stronger relationships, and better sex. I draw from psychodynamic, mindfulness, and cognitive-behavioral techniques to defeat self-deprecating patterns and harness emotion. I am not a cliché, hands off, "uh huh" therapist—I will guide you in deconstructing lifelong patterns and help you replace them with more preferred behaviors.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Before our first session, I will reach out to schedule a brief consultation call, at no cost to you. The call will take place over the phone, last approximately 10-15 minutes, and will allow you to ask any questions you may have. After the consultation, we will meet for our initial intake session. The intake is 45-minutes long. I will ask questions about your background, meaningful relationships, and general mental health history. If we decide to move forward after the intake, we will schedule ongoing 45-minute sessions on a weekly or bi-weekly schedule.

Laura is so amazing! I had been seeing another therapist before her that I just wasn’t clicking with and was going to give up on therapy, but I am so happy I stuck with it and found Laura! I have been improving a lot and could not have done it without her!
Dr Caruso is the best therapist I have ever seen. She is warm, welcoming and helpful. She has helped me immensely in my mental health. I would highly recommend her to anybody who needs therapy
Laura is a kind, patient, and empathetic therapist, and working with her has helped me to manage my anxiety, process my emotions, and work through my past experiences and traumas that have been holding me back. I’ve worked with other therapists in the past that didn’t really click, so I’m so happy to be working with Laura!
