Getting to know Laura Elk-Weist

Do you feel like you can’t catch a break? Are your thoughts constantly racing? You are not alone. Whatever you are facing, you deserve a space solely dedicated to supporting your needs. I have over 15 years of experience collaborating with individuals to quiet their inner critic, establish positive habits, and implement strategies to become “unstuck” and find direction in the midst of life’s challenges. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Social Work from the University of Chicago and a Master’s in Social and Cultural Foundations in Education from DePaul University, which enrich my approach to providing compassionate, effective care.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I offer an understanding of the difficulty that comes when you feel like parts of you don't fit. As a queer person, I value holding space for people, especially those who feel marginalized, alone, or lacking support. I want my clients to feel greater sense of ease and joy.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I approach counseling with a client-centered and collaborative approach. Ultimately, I believe that you have everything you need inside of yourself to create the change you seek in your life. I will help guide you through your journey and provide you with any additional skills/tools you may require.
