Hi! I'm Laura, and I'm so glad you're here. I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (NY), Licensed Professional Counselor (SC) and Master Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (NY), bringing over a decade of experience into our work together. I work with adults (18+) and specialize in working with those navigating the intersection of mental health and problematic substance use. My extensive experience includes work with depression, anxiety, grief, addiction, anger, and trauma, meeting clients with patience, kindness, empathy and expertise.
What should a new client know about working with you?
My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in real connection. I work from person-centered and strengths-based perspectives, meaning I invest in truly getting to know and understand you beyond the anxiety, depression, trauma, anger or other emotions that might be of focus in our sessions. I draw from evidence-based practices and intentionally structure sessions and our work to align with what feels most impactful for you.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
So, what can you expect from therapy? Expect to feel supported. Expect to be challenged. Expect space for honesty, depth and a humor. Expect that I’ll ask you to tell me more. Expect me to be human. Expect guest appearances from my dog, Gentry, and most importantly, expect that my only expectation of you is to show up as your most authentic self.
