Getting to know Laura Hensley

As your therapist, I'll serve as facilitator, witness, supportive counselor, and encouraging coach. I offer a relaxed, non-judgmental atmosphere—a safe space to explore and find ways forward. I hold a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University. In addition to therapy services, I’m also a Board-Approved Qualified Supervisor for Registered Mental Health Counselor Interns in Florida. Welcome interns!

What should a new client know about working with you?

Each of us is born with an innate creative ability to solve difficult problems, reduce anxiety, lift depression, process grief, and navigate life's transitions - all by connecting with the rich resources of our own imagination. We’ll use different therapy tools - EMDR, Art Therapy, Sandplay, Dreamwork and Guided Imagery - to help you access your own unique well of wisdom. Your own authentic source of self-knowledge will help you cultivate a relaxed and present state of being, find freedom from painful past experiences, overcome obstacles and challenges, and find ways to heal and grow.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We'll typically spend 15-20 minutes discussing your needs, wants and intention for the session. Then, according to your preference, we'll begin working with one of several evidence-based modalities - EMDR, Art Therapy, Sandplay, Guided Imagery, Dreamwork.
