Laura Hockenberry Gardner, LPC

Psychotherapist
MI
I believe in therapy, having engaged in my own therapeutic journey since my mid-twenties. I grew up in New Jersey and moved to Michigan to attend Western Michigan University, where I earned my Master’s in Counseling Psychology. I have lived here ever since. Early in my career, I worked in the foster care system with children and adolescents, an experience I truly enjoyed. This work provided a strong foundation for addressing adult issues related to attachment, unmet developmental stages from childhood, and struggles within current relationships. I frequently work with individuals raised by narcissistic parents, those coping with cancer diagnoses, and people facing chronic or life-threatening illnesses. I also support clients dealing with childhood trauma, sexual abuse, or emotional abuse. Additionally, I have experience working with adoptees seeking to understand themselves and their past. Much of my work involves helping individuals transition through divorce and navigate the many adjustments that process entails. I find people and their life experiences fascinating and always worth exploring. Unpacking these experiences helps clients gain a deeper understanding of themselves as whole beings. There is always something new to learn.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
