Getting to know Laura Jasen

Life's hurdles can challenge even the strongest of us. With therapeutic support and compassionate guidance, we can overcome your struggles to help you improve your mental health, regain control, and start your healing so you can live the life you've always envisioned. With the proper help, you can improve your anxiety, strengthen your relationships, push yourself to take on new challenges, and find the right tools to manage the difficulties you face and find your well-being. Areas of specialty include Life Transitions, Anxiety, Feelings of Unease, Healing Trauma, Relationship Issues, Grief, and Loss. I hold a Master's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of South Florida. My style is authentic, compassionate, and direct. Using Narrative Therapy tools and strategies, I help you relieve stress and anxiety, establish deeper connections, and start your healing. Our relationship is built on trust, empathy, and a willingness to do the work; sometimes that means a caring, sympathetic ear, and sometimes an honest, hard truth. I aim to provide a safe space where you can heal while feeling heard, supported, and with permission to be your whole self. I look forward to standing with you as you learn how your experiences have shaped you and as you allow yourself to make the changes needed to improve your mental health, rediscover who you are, what you're capable of, and your purpose.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe each of us knows our lived story better than anyone else. However, it’s natural for us to have some bias as to why and how things happened the way they did. I will challenge you to identify how your story can be rewritten. I embody a holistic and eclectic approach to therapy that centers around the art of conversation while weaving in a diverse variety of therapeutic interventions. If you struggle to show up as your authentic self each day, it can be a lonely experience. You might be looking for someone to be in your corner, supporting you when necessary but also challenging you to push through in more difficult moments. Reminding you that you are stronger and more resilient than you think. Someone who can be a cheerleader, confidante, and trusted advisor to help hold you accountable. As a licensed therapist, I can be that person for you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My first step into therapy was on the other side of the relationship — as a client. Everything, from the outside, was just 'fine,' but I was listless, confused, and anxious about life. It felt like everyone around me was happy when I wasn't, and I wanted to figure out why. What was wrong with me? I know how it feels when everything is okay but not quite right beneath the surface. And I know how it feels when you heal and come out the other side confident in yourself, the choices you make, and with the permission to live a life that is entirely yours. After experiencing treatment, I wanted everyone to have access to this life-changing opportunity, so my career and journey to normalize therapy began. I had found my Ikigai, my life’s purpose. A vocation I am passionate about, that the world needs, and that I excel at.
