Getting to know Laura Jennings
Wherever you have come from and whatever situation you find yourself in now, I believe that you have the ability to find joy, love, and community within your life. I value my role in providing you with support and encouragement within a safe environment as you work to achieve your goals.
In our work together, I make it my intention to show up fully as myself. I believe in vulnerability and the importance of the client/therapist relationship. My commitments to you include being a lifelong learner, knowing that every client has something to teach me. You are your best teacher and know yourself better than anyone. My role is to help you navigate the challenges that hold you back and walk alongside you as you work toward becoming your best self.
Personally, I rarely accept limitations or being told ?you can't,? but always push through and create new goals for myself. I hold a Level 1 Certification in Reiki and strongly believe in holistic work, utilizing all of the senses and bodily sensations to find growth and healing. I am passionate about staying active and being intentional with my own self-reflection. I believe it is essential to know who I am in order to support you, so I spend significant time challenging myself to be the most authentic version of myself possible. I work hard and won't push you where I haven't gone before. I'm not afraid of doing the work because I see where it has brought me, and it is exactly why I do the work I do.
I graduated from Wayne State University with my Master's in Social Work and received my undergraduate degree in Social Work from Cornerstone University. I've spent most of my time between Detroit, Flint, and Ann Arbor, with much of my career working within Community Mental Health. I've also spent time with The Alzheimer's Association, working with Cancer & Hematology services, and with severe psychiatric illnesses in the Emergency Room.
