“Laura had amazing bedside manner. I felt like I was talking all over the place at my first appointment and she made me feel like a normal person for having so many topics to touch on. I left my first session feeling much better and with several takeaways for me to think on that will help me through until our next session.”

Getting to know Laura Pape

Hi there, and welcome to Day One Counseling. We are a small group practice offering psychotherapy delivered by licensed clinicians with a focus on anxiety, ADHD, trauma/PTSD, and women’s issues.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My name is Laura Goncalves and I am the intake coordinator at Day One Counseling meaning that I am your first point of contact as a new patient seeking therapy. During our meeting we will discuss your goals of therapy, previous experiences, and based on these things I will then place you with one of our therapists that best fits your needs.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During our meeting I will ask you a few questions about your background, history, goals, and help answer any questions you have about therapy. My role is to help create a welcoming and seamless experience for you. We have many therapists each with their own clinical expertise and area of speciality. At Day One Counseling we treat all stages of life. Our approach is Person-Centered. Person-Centered involves focusing care your needs and ensuring that your preferences and values guide clinical decisions. Our approach is providing care that is respectful of and responsive to you.

I have been seeing Laura for 5 years for talk therapy. Her approach has been incredibly productive, and with her help, I have greatly improved my ability to identify and manage my anxiety and depression. Laura is incredibly compassionate and understanding. Her level of support is absolutely stellar; when I contact her during the week, she makes sure to respond to me very quickly. I'm so grateful for how much she has improved my life! I would highly recommend her to anyone who is seeking talk therapy.
I have been seeing this provider for at least 5 years (if not longer). We have worked through many issues in that time. She is incredibly supportive and knowledgeable!
Laura is my third therapist and i have never made any progress until she became my new therapist. She is extremely knowledgeable and a great listener. Laura is always willing to go above and beyond for her clients. I highly recommend Laura.
I cannot say enough good things about Laura. She is truly the best therapist I have ever had. From the moment I walked into her office, I knew I was in good hands. Laura has an aura of warmth and compassion that immediately put me at ease. Her professionalism is top-notch and she genuinely cares about my mental health. Not only is Laura incredibly skilled at what she does, but she also has a natural ability to connect with her clients. She listens attentively and provides insight and guidance that has been truly life-changing for me. She has helped me work through some of my deepest and most challenging issues with patience, empathy, and understanding. One of the things I appreciate most about Laura is her ability to create a safe and trusting environment. I have always felt comfortable opening up to her and sharing my thoughts and feelings without judgment. She has a way of making me feel heard and understood, which has been crucial in my healing process.
Laura has been a lifesaver with helping us cope with my son’s anxiety. She’s made herself available to us during episodes of unexpected anxiety attacks and has given us countless examples of coping methods. She’s determined to help & make a positive impact and has been an inspiration through some of the most stressful times, I don’t know what we would do without her!
Laura has exceeded all of my expectations during our therapy sessions. She is incredibly personable in our sessions, and her care for her patients is incredibly clear. She is incredibly easy to talk to and communicates sensitive issues without infringing upon any boundaries. Her care extends outside of meetings, always willing to receive messages on anything going on throughout my life. She expresses interest for any topic that is brought up and clearly cares about me as a patient. Further, she does the most to ensure working around scheduling, never failing to provide options when life gets in the way of attending meetings. Overall, Laura has transcended past any predisposition I had about therapy prior to attending with her.
