Laura Schenck, LMHC

Psychotherapist
WA
Hi there, I'm Laura! I deeply believe in the human capacity for growth in the face of incredible adversity. Pain is oftentimes inevitable, but suffering is optional. For those brave enough to reach out for support in trying times, I offer a new way to draw upon inner strengths and reframe how you relate to your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I aim to compassionately work with you to understand your concerns and their impact. I hold a PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado and a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Boston College. My approach I adopt an integrative, humanistic approach, drawing upon cognitive, behavioral, psychodynamic, and mindfulness-based therapies, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I've completed level one training in the Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT) and John Gottman’s approach to couples therapy. My focus I am comfortable working with both individuals and couples experiencing a wide range of concerns, including mood disorders, substance abuse, ADHD, and couples concerns. My communication style At your pace, we can explore problematic obstacles, while gently introducing more adaptive, flexible ways of engaging with life and moving towards your goals. You may discover that it is your inner sense of knowing, self-love, and willingness to commit to making changes that will ultimately guide the way through the darkness.
