Hi, I'm Laura Sharp, LPCC of Koselig Counseling, and I'm so glad you're here! Koselig: a Norwegian term used to describe an all-encompassing sense of comfort one experiences when they feel “at home.” I know what it is like to feel “at home” or - koselig - with yourself. …And I also know what it is like to be on the other side of that - to be longing for that feeling amidst a trying season. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, life transitions, low mood episodes, loneliness, work stress, relational distress, pregnancy and postpartum changes - I would love to journey alongside you. I'll provide the hope, safety, and space for exploration; you provide the honest story. I hold a Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Denver Seminary, which has equipped me to support you with compassion and expertise. What we will find is a new version of yourself - someone who is more authentic + koselig.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I understand that investing in a therapeutic relationship is a big deal. After submitting an appointment request with me, I will be in touch via email to schedule a complimentary 20-minute phone call to get to know each other a little and to see if it feels like we would be a good fit before moving forward. My goal for you is to find a therapist that you feel safe + known with, and if I’m not the best fit for you, I have a list of incredible referrals I would love to provide you with.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I take a holistic approach to therapy, meaning I believe that greater wellness is achieved when we diversify our focus. We'll look at your life from biological, psychological, social, and spiritual [your values and/or faith] standpoints. My work also focuses on celebration, as too often our society tends to rush on to the "next thing" after an accomplishment or goal is met. This will not be the case during our time together. If you’re committed to engaging in the hard work of therapy, we’re going to have some major wins (!!). I make it a point to celebrate these.

I am considered an out-of-network provider and do not accept insurance at this time. However, I can provide you with a superbill, a detailed receipt outlining our work together that you can submit to your health insurance provider for potential reimbursement. Some insurance policies provide reimbursement, whether partial or full, while others do not. Please check your coverage carefully by calling your insurance provider (their number can be found on the back of your insurance card under “Members” or “Member Services”) and asking the following questions: 1. What are my out-of-network healthcare benefits for behavioral health in an outpatient setting? 2. Do I have to meet a certain deductible before receiving any reimbursement? If so, has it been met? 3. Is there a copay involved? 4. What is the coverage amount per therapy session? 5. How do I submit my superbill? 6. What does timely filing look like for submitting my superbill? 7. How will I receive my reimbursement?
