Hi there, I'm LAURA!
Hello! I am Laura Kay Wise, a licensed professional counselor fully licensed in Oklahoma and Texas. I am committed to guiding and supporting individuals through life's journey, challenges, and hardships. I focus on providing empathetic, compassionate, quality evidenced based treatment to individuals. I tailor my approach to meet each person's unique needs and goals. I have 8 years of experience in supporting clients of all ages from age 5 to 100 years old from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
My approach
I practice using a collaborative evidenced based approaches with Cognitve Behavioral, Interpersonal, Solution-focused, and other effective trauma informed modalities to create a safe nonjudgmental environment for individuals and families to explore emotions, thoughts, solutions, and barriers while helping them learn new effective ways to cope safely with their struggles.
My focus
I have experience working with all ages from culturally diverse backgrounds. I have experience working with children and teens. I gained experience with at-risk populations and those suffering from substance use in a Community Mental Health setting. I have worked with individuals in the LGBTQ community. I have worked with people who have suffered trauma, which led them to unsafe coping such as substance use by implementing Seeking Safety. I have worked with discriminated against populations such as inmates and assisted them overcoming the barriers they often face. I am experienced in helping those who have been victims of domestic violence, to form healthy relationships. I have experience working with the elderly in nursing home and rehabilitation facilities. I am strongly passionate about helping those who have suffered trauma of all ages, which often leads to substance use and other high-risk behaviors. I am comfortable providing trauma informed care to all ages assisting them to overcome barriers and become successful in managing challenges they face.
