Laura Zak is a pre-licensed provider working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. I have always been fascinated by the experiences that shape who we are and how we navigate the world. My own experiences with mental health and therapy have contributed to my passion to create a space where others can feel seen, heard, and supported. In a society that often teaches us to silence our inner voice and dismiss our pain, I believe therapy offers a space to reconnect with ourselves. It’s a place to build trust, deepen self-understanding, and begin to heal. Your full self is welcome here, and I am honored to walk alongside you as you navigate the complexity of life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work with adults, adolescents, and children experiencing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, family concerns, and life transitions. As a clinician with lived experience of OCD, I am passionate about providing quality care to those navigating this diagnosis, including those with taboo obsessions. Living with distressing intrusive thoughts can be an isolating and debilitating experience, but you are not defined by your thoughts. I also enjoy working with neurodivergent clients, such as those with ADHD, and I’m committed to creating an affirming space for the LGBTQ+ community. As a Queer therapist, it’s especially meaningful for me to support others in this community, particularly those healing from religious trauma.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe therapy is a space of relational healing where you deserve to feel deeply seen, heard, and empowered as you are. To that end, my therapeutic style incorporates warmth, authenticity, and humor. I work from a person-centered lens, honoring the wisdom within each person and what they find beneficial in the therapeutic process. Each session can look different, and may include specific skills to cope with stressors or a space to delve deeper into your experience. I also draw from modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) in my work with clients.
