What should a new client know about working with you?

My priority is to collaborate and understand what has led you to where you are at now seeking therapy. I strive to partner with you so that you feel involved and informed about every step of the process. I am committed to you feeling better which includes hearing feedback about our work together. Not everything we do will work and I can flex and adapt to better meet your needs. If I am not the right fit after we try some things, then I will support you in finding a better fit. Therapy isn't a one size fits all prescription for what we do, which is why communication is key in my work. I will model transparency so that you feel comfortable sharing the hardships bringing you in and will be open about what is and isn't working. As long as you keep showing up and putting in the work, I will be right there with you step for step.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therapy starts off with reviewing your history and all the life you have lived up until starting therapy. Next, we will define the goals for our work together and keep them as our guide through all the work we do. I will present the different modalities I utilize in order to help us identify which one, or ones, best suit your concerns and explaining how those will be utilized in sessions. If there are crises or major life events that occur during our work together, I will always pivot to provide support on that to ensure that you feel ready to continue doing the challenging work of changing. Once we feel that you have achieved your goals, we will conclude therapy. I don't see therapy as a permanent fixture in people's lives. I will however be here if you need to come in for a few sessions here and there or for more regular therapy again as life happens.
