Getting to know Lauren Baer

Hi! My name is Lauren, and I am a licensed clinical social worker. I graduated from Florida State University with a Master’s degree in Social Work, and I have been practicing therapy for the last 11 years. I am so glad you found me! My goal as a clinician is to help my clients find a safe, empowering space to navigate the challenges life throws our way. I believe everyone deserves the right to feel comfortable in their own skin, and I would love to help guide you through this process!

What should a new client know about working with you?

For most people therapy can feel overwhelming and cause a lot of different emotions. I want my clients to feel as comfortable as possible. I let my clients guide the therapeutic process and we navigate your challenges together. Therapy can bring out some intense emotions but we also laugh, joke and talk about life as it happens. I use a variety of therapeutic interventions in my practice but it's a two-way street; if my clients don't feel like an intervention is working or they want to try something different that is what we do. My expectation is that my clients show up to therapy with an open mind; you get as much out of therapy as you put into it.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session will go over the challenges you might be facing, the goals you want to set and events in your life that impact who you are as a person. The sessions following the intake will focus more in depth on what you want to work on or what has happened during the previous week or day that you might be struggling with. Most weeks I assign homework to my clients to practice what we've talked about in session.
