Lauren Blackerby, LMHC

Psychotherapist
MA
Hi, I'm Lauren Blackerby, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a Registered Art Therapist (ATR). I specialize in supporting women with ADHD who are navigating life transitions such as career changes, relationship changes, identity shifts, or the demands of parenting. Many of the clients I work with feel overwhelmed by the mental load of daily life, stuck in cycles of procrastination and self doubt. My goal is to create a space where you feel understood, supported, and able to explore what's really going on without judgement. I take a neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed approach, with a focus on reducing shame, building self-compassion, and helping clients feel more confident.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My therapy style is warm, collaborative, and supportive. I believe that therapy works best when it feels like a genuine partnership, where you feel comfortable showing up as your full self. I specialize in working with women with ADHD and understand how challenging like procrastination, difficulty prioritizing tasks, and emotional overwhelm can affect everyday life. Many of my clients have spent years feeling like they need to push themselves harder or mask their struggles. In our work together, we focus on understanding how your brain works and developing strategies that support rather than fighting against it. I bring a feminist and neurodiversity-affirming perspective to my work, acknowledging the societal pressures and expectations that weigh heavily upon us. I work with clients to acknowledge how these expectations have impacted how we view ourselves and the world around us, and how to align with our own wants and needs for ourselves.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

You can book a free 10 minute consultation here on zocdoc so that we can talk about what is bringing you to therapy and determine if we will be a good fit in working together. From there we can schedule an intake appointment where we can continue to get to know each other, identify goals, and determine how therapy can best support you. After the intake appointment, we typically meet for weekly 50 minute appointments where we will use talk therapy and/or art therapy to identify what the current challenges are and way to support you in addressing those challenges through coping skills, challenging thinking patterns that keep us stuck, as identifying and processing emotions as they arise.
