What should a new client know about working with you?

When I work with children, my focus is creating a safe space where they can express themselves in ways that feel natural — often through play, creativity, and imagination — while I help them build emotional skills, confidence, and problem-solving abilities. With teens and adults, I take a collaborative, non-directive approach. Rather than telling you what to do, I work alongside you as you explore your experiences, identify your strengths, and figure out what actually feels meaningful and realistic for your life. In a non-judgmental space with room to reflect, you can build resilience, gain insight, and make changes that support your overall well-being.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Before your first session, our Client Care Coordinator, Heather, will reach out to complete paperwork and make sure I’m a good match for what you’re looking for — so we can focus on you from the beginning. For adults, the first few sessions are about getting to know you, understanding what brings you to therapy, and identifying what you’d like to change or work toward. From there, I tailor therapy to your individual needs and goals. You’re the expert on your own life, and I bring the clinical knowledge and tools. Together, we’ll decide what feels most helpful and adjust along the way. For teens, a parent joins for part of the first session before I begin meeting individually with the teen. For younger children, the first session is parents only, with both parents encouraged to attend. If parents are divorced, both must consent to treatment. After that, I meet with your child using developmentally appropriate approaches such as Child-Centered Play Therapy, art, and sand tray therapy. I also meet with parents every 4–6 weeks to discuss progress and ways to support goals at home. Regardless of age, therapy is collaborative, individualized, and designed to grow and change with you.
