Getting to know Lauren Cooper

Do you find yourself feeling stressed or overwhelmed? Are you currently trying to get through a challenging time? Is there something holding you back from living life to the fullest? Life can be challenging, and it can be difficult to know how to make changes. I utilize an eclectic approach to guide you through your own process at your own pace, focusing on helping individuals navigate life changes or hardships. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from the University of Connecticut and a Bachelor's degree from Central Connecticut State University. I specialize in treating children, adolescents, and adults. My background includes working with individuals in various settings who have experienced suicidal ideation, self-harming behaviors, depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, substance use, family stressors, and more. My goal is to empower individuals by working with them to identify and develop skills that foster positive change in their lives. I help you explore intrusive or bothersome thoughts, patterns, emotions, and behaviors that prevent you from being happy, helping to bring balance back into your life. Together, we work to redirect negative thought patterns, which can help you relax, focus, and increase your energy. My ultimate focus is on helping individuals love and fully accept themselves. I believe everyone has the ability to create change in their lives, and I welcome all who are ready to begin their healing journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

At our first session together, I will explore what brought you to therapy including any current strengths or needs. The first few sessions, I will spend time getting to know you and develop a rapport. Starting therapy can feel uncomfortable and awkward, especially if you have not been in therapy before. That is normal! The healing process takes time and patience. We will prioritize where you would like to focus on treatment first and develop a treatment plan together. At times, I will provide homework to further the therapeutic process between our time together. We will have continuous open dialogue about what works for you and what does not work for you in therapy. I will check-in to see how you feel about the therapeutic process and level of fit between therapist and individual.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
