“I genuinely think Lauren is one of the best therapists in Utah. I’ve been to a lot throughout my life and she’s one that has actually made a difference for me. She not only is easy to talk to and is very empathetic, but she also has the expertise and tools that have made a lasting change for me. If you don’t know already about Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), then you should do a quick google search on it or ask Lauren about it because she does it in her sessions and it’s helped move my stuck anxiety and trauma to being released so I’m not held back by it anymore. I obviously have a lot to say about how great she is, but I highly recommend seeing or yourself. I’ve recommended her to some of my friends and family and they all have loved her! ”

What should a new client know about working with you?

Choosing therapy for addiction or substance use is a courageous step—especially when shame, trauma, or emotional pain are part of the story. I work with teens, adults, and couples who feel stuck in cycles with alcohol, drugs, or other addictive behaviors and are ready for meaningful change. My approach is compassionate, trauma-informed, and grounded in safety. Many addictive behaviors begin as ways to cope with overwhelming emotions or past experiences. Together, we’ll move at your pace to understand the roots of the struggle, strengthen emotional regulation, and build healthier coping tools that support lasting recovery. By using modalities such as Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I am also certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to help those with complex trauma or those who are just looking to help relieve negative sensations in their bodies. With a bachelor’s in Psychology, a master’s in Social Work, and my LCSW, I bring a strong clinical foundation and a diverse range of therapeutic approaches to my work. I’ve spent the last three years in a group private practice, and alongside that, I worked for nearly two years in a residential and outpatient treatment center supporting individuals navigating mental health and substance use challenges. Through these experiences, I’ve found that I’m especially passionate about and effective in helping individuals struggling with betrayal trauma, addiction (of all kinds), CPTSD/PTSD, anxiety, and depression. My goal is always to meet clients with compassion, clarity (and some spunk with my personality) and evidence-based care that supports meaningful change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When I meet with clients, I try to make it a very casual and comfortable conversation. I will often ask you "What brings you to therapy?", "What are you noticing in your life that you feel curious about changing and gaining insight on?". I primarily focus on the therapeutic relationship, as I view it to be the most important as pet of therapy. I start my sessions with asking what the highlights of your week, weeks or month was. We discuss the positives first and then flow into the negatives. Typically I will then guide the conversation to something that occurred during the week and figure out how it impacts you either day to day or where but could be coming from internally. This will then tie into how it could be contributing to your symptoms you're struggling with. I don't typically give physical homework, but something that we discussed in session to practice in between sessions.
