What should a new client know about working with you?
While much of my work incorporates a range of play therapy interventions, such as sand tray, ART play, and creative toys, I am also an eclectic clinician and am able to adjust my therapeutic approach according to my clients needs. My preteens, teenager, and young adult clients may come into session feeling more comfortable with a traditional person-centered approach where they can just be and show up as they are without having the need to play games or do a craft activity. I welcome incorporating parents in any session. My extensive experiences allows me to work effectively with parents to help guide them toward successful strategies for nurturing their child's development. Additionally, therapy can be a wild journey and process. There are times when clients may feel discouraged or have difficulty showing up as they are in session. However, just knowing that by coming to therapy, takes so much courage and strength to be in that position of vulnerability. By just showing up as you are, means the growth process has already begun.
