Getting to know Lauren Levin

We can often be our own worst critics, feeling overwhelmed by the sheer amount of “what if” scenarios that pop into our heads. Whether it shows up in our romantic relationships, academics, family dynamics, or in the workplace, anxiety can feel like an overprotective force in our heads that means well but often latches onto perfectionism, urgency, and control. For the past 8 years, it has been my privilege to work directly with clients from a variety of backgrounds to treat anxiety, depression, trauma, and general life stress. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Social Work from the Silberman School of Social Work, which has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to provide compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to each individual’s needs.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I take an eclectic approach to therapy, drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) skills, Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), and psychodynamic therapy, with an emphasis on self-compassion & mindfulness.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our sessions will feel conversational, allowing you to explore your feelings and build confidence in vulnerability with yourself and others. I bring humor and compassion to the therapeutic alliance, valuing and empowering your perspective, while also gently challenging any patterns you may be stuck in. I will actively listen to your experience with interest and empathy. I believe in equity across all identities and understanding how larger societal systems play a role in how we see ourselves in relation to the world. I am very vocal about asking for feedback from my clients to make sure they are getting exactly what they need out of therapy. We'll collaborate to build a supportive, judgement-free, space where you feel heard and leave with tools to try outside of session.

Laura Levin has helped me so much. She is intuitive, smart, affirmative, and listens so deeply. I feel very grateful to have found her.
Lauren is a wonderful therapist! In the years we worked together she always made me feel safe, heard, and supported. She positively enabled me to hold myself accountable to my goals and the work I wanted to do on myself. She is knowledgeable in several techniques and specific fields within the sphere of talk therapy and is always happy to provide resources and tools to use outside of sessions which I always found incredibly helpful. She is communicative about, and respectful of your time when it comes to session scheduling, and she is a very warm and empathetic person. The only reason I'm not still working with her is insurance issues on my end, but if that aligns in the future I would be thrilled to work with her again. In the meantime, cannot recommend her enough, should you end up working with her you will be in very very good hands :)
