Dr. Lauren Millard, PhD

Dr. Lauren Millard, PhD

Psychotherapist
CO
Having recovered from my own eating disorder and trauma, I know how hard and how important the work is. I earned my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Colorado State University. In addition to completing required curriculum and clinical training I pursued additional specialized training in the treatment of eating disorders and trauma as well as a Graduate Women's Studies Certificate. I was born & raised in Colorado. In my free time you can find me exploring the mountains with my rescue dogs. As an interpersonal therapist, I believe the most important aspect of therapy being effective is fostering a relationship between therapist and client that is built on trust, safety, and authenticity. I am also a feminist therapist, and work hard to contextualize my clients' experiences with sociocultural factors in order to help empower them and come from a HAES and anti-oppressive framework. I also incorporate CBT, DBT, and ACT interventions to assist in building adaptive coping skills. Therapy is hard work as is anything that leads to lasting change. Sometimes you will leave feeling relief and calm, and sometimes you may leave feeling fatigued, because the work is challenging. However, over time, you can expect to unlearn beliefs and behaviors that no longer serve you and gain insight, wisdom, and inner peace and healing. And I will be there by your side every step of the way with support, compassion, and probably more laughter than you would expect.
