Unpack the chaos. Drop the guilt. Build the life you actually want. You’ve got big dreams, big responsibilities, and a brain that never shuts up. You’re the one people count on, the problem solver, the overachiever, the one who always figures it out. But damn, it’s a lot. And some days? It feels like too much. I’m Lauren, a queer, overachieving wife and mom who gets what it’s like to carry the weight of ambition, caregiving, and just existing in a world that doesn’t always make space for you. I know what it’s like to want more; more balance, more ease, more time to breathe without feeling guilty about it. That’s why I built Story of Things Therapy & Consulting, a space for people like us. The leaders, the caregivers, the LGBTQIA+ folks, the ones navigating fertility, big life changes, or the pressure to have it all figured out. Also for late bloomers, poly folks, unconventional lives, and anyone who's ever thought, will a therapist even get me? Spoiler: I do. I’m body-positive, anti-racist, and here for every identity, no exceptions. My approach is no-nonsense, client-centered, and solution-focused. Real talk. Real strategies. Own your life, no BS. Let's be real: if you’re done with the distractions, ready to put in the work, and open to real change, it's time to make it happen! Contact me today to get started!

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy with me isn’t about checking boxes or spinning in circles—it’s about real, lasting transformation. As a clinical social worker, I combine client-centered, humanistic, and solution-focused approaches with Family Systems Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you break free from old patterns, untangle the mess, and build a life that aligns with who you are. Here’s how we do it: - Family Systems Therapy – Your family’s influence runs deep, whether they’re in the room or not. We’ll dig into those deep-rooted dynamics, heal old wounds, set boundaries, and approach relationships with more power and clarity. - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – Those thoughts that keep you stuck in stress or self-doubt? We’ll call them out, shift the beliefs that are holding you back, and make real changes that make life feel easier. With a client-centered, humanistic, and solution-focused approach, I focus on you—your story, your needs, and your goals, so we can build real solutions that work for your life. I’m also a Certified Trauma Professional, so I create a safe space for you to process your past at your pace—no judgment, no rushing—so you can move forward, empowered and in control.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Getting Started: We begin with an intake session where I get to know you—your story, what’s been weighing on you, and what you hope to get out of therapy. This is a space for you to take a deep breath and just be. Mapping Your Road Ahead: Together, we craft a personalized roadmap (aka your treatment goals) that focuses on where you are now and where you want to be in the near and far future. Ongoing Sessions: This is where the real work happens. Some days, it’ll be about processing big emotions. Other times, we’ll focus on learning practical skills to navigate stress, relationships, career shifts, or personal growth. No matter what, therapy is your space to take up as much room as you need—you deserve that. If you’re ready to feel more grounded, clear, and in control of your next steps, I’d love to support you. Let’s start the conversation.
