Getting to know Lauren Schmidt
I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 10 years experience working with teens and adults. I work with individuals navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, and life transitions, including the unique stressors that can come with young adulthood, adulthood and beyond. Even when things look “fine” on the outside, it can feel exhausting to carry so much internally. Together, we focus on building insight, strengthening self-esteem, and creating more balanced, sustainable ways of relating to yourself and others.
What should a new client know about working with you?
My goal is to create a space where you feel honest, understood, and supported as you explore what’s been holding you back and move forward in a meaningful, sustainable way. While insight is an important part of therapy, I incorporate somatic and mindfulness-based techniques for clients who feel like traditional talk therapy hasn’t been enough.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Our first session will be us getting to know each other. I usually start with asking you what brings you to therapy and if therapy is successful what would be different in your life. We will work together to decide what your goals will be and start to create a plan to achieve it. I will regularly check in to see if we are still on the right track!

Started seeing her when I was struggling in grad school a few years ago. Lauren has been a constant sense of support through challenging times. I had to switch therapists because of insurance a couple years ago but couldn't find someone has good. She's a great listener and is very attentive, never makes you feel less. Luckily, insurance changed again and I was able to go back. I've learned so much from her in terms of managing stress and dealing with my own anxiety. Definitely recommend!

Lauren is the best, I look forward to talking to her every week. She's given me so many tools to work toward the health goals I'm working on. She makes me feel hopeful and understood. She's kind, empathetic, and smart, but will also challenge you. I *very often* in my life think "what would Lauren say about this?" or "what would Lauren do?" and it's gotten me through a lottt of tough situations.
I can truly tell her anything and it is always met with grace and perspective. She's also really funny so that helps! If I could rate her higher I would!

Lauren is the best, I look forward to talking with her every week. She keeps my brain healthy, helps me stop from spiraling, and has given me so many tools to be more content in my life.
She is incredibly attentive, SO smart, and empathetic, but she will also challenge you and make you reconsider any negative perspectives. Lauren has gotten me through countless tough situations, and I'm truly grateful for her every day. She is also so funny and just a fun, warm person. Definitely recommend working with Lauren!
