UpLift Behavioral Health providers do not issue prescriptions for substances controlled by any federal or state agency or other drugs that may be harmful because of their potential for abuse. UpLift Behavioral Health reserves the right to limit the types of medications that may be prescribed by its doctors and nurse practitioners. All prescriptions furnished by UpLift Behavioral Health care providers are issued in accordance with applicable federal and state law as well as UpLift Behavioral Health policy. By exploring the things we shy away from with a supportive and knowledgeable ally, psychotherapy can become not only what helps us understand our current circumstances but also teaches us how to better accept and understand our more difficult and uncomfortable feelings. Acceptance leads to a sense of self-worth and appreciation for who we are, without shame. Good therapy is about exploring together, finding answers within, and examining new skills that will offer the ability to fully live and enjoy one’s life. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialogue and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s degree from Sacred Heart University, which have equipped me with the knowledge and skills to provide thoughtful and effective care.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Lauren Storck-Burger, LCSW Sometimes life’s journey is met with roadblocks, whether newly arrived at or so old, it’s hard to imagine life without working around them. Sometimes, seeing the beauty around us or believing in the possibility of a bright, beautiful future feels hampered by these roadblocks. The sheer exhaustion of enduring them while others seem to cruise effortlessly can cause depression, anxiety, loneliness, and sometimes even a feeling that we are masquerading through life rather than living it. Exploring these roadblocks with an experienced therapist can make all the difference in better understanding your life journey so far, as well as establishing new goals and then achieving them. Toward that end, I offer over 23 years of clinical experience and have assisted many, many people in finding the answers that lie inside them, through the use of fresh observations, a compassionate therapeutic alliance, and selective therapies, we can bring peace where there was turmoil and hope where there was none. The work is achieved through a variety of therapeutic techniques, including: Psychodynamic Therapy Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Mindfulness Techniques

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Initial sessions are spent learning the specific nature of what brought the client to treatment as well as their own individual strengths. A strong therapeutic alliance is formed based on mutual trust and respect. It is imperative to realize that people do their best with the information and resources they have. They seek help because their best does not satisfy where they currently are in life or where they want to go. Progress is made by skillfully examining long held believes and, together, looking at personal history, interpersonal exchanges, and individual point of view. This is achieved by deftly utilizing Psychodynamic, CBT and ACT therapies as well as Attachment Theory. It is that examination by both the therapist and client that will illuminate any distortions or long held beliefs, enabling one to view the client’s life from a clearer perspective, perhaps for the first time. By exploring the things we tend to shy away from with a supportive and knowledgeable ally, psychotherapy can become not only what helps us understand our current circumstances, but also can teach us how to better accept and understand our more difficult and uncomfortable feelings. Acceptance, rather than avoidance leads to a sense of self-worth and appreciation for who we are, without shame. Good therapy is not about giving advice or creating dependence. Good therapy is about exploration, acceptance, and learning skills that will offer the ability to fully live and enjoy one’s life.
