Getting to know Lauren Ventura

My dedication and passion for working with individuals are the foundation of my work. I believe that a healthy life begins with healthy thoughts. I empathize with how difficult it is to reach out for assistance. The courage and commitment to starting this journey make you one step closer to your goals. I have worked clinically one-on-one in multiple settings: a substance abuse residential program, a partial hospitalization program, an intensive outpatient program, a therapeutic school, and intensive community services. I have a wide range of experience within the New Jersey Children's System of Care working with parents to empower them through finding their individuality again, parent-child conflict, divorce, co-parenting, and limit setting. I find a specialty of mine is being transparent in understanding how the family dynamic works in complex ways. I have also worked closely with children suffering from mental health disorders and their families. It is not easy to understand or accept a child’s limitations and I have the experience from both perspectives of the child and the parent's struggle. I also have a skill set in working with families who are affected by a loved one's addiction. I pride myself on my strong interpersonal engagement skills, boundaries, integrity, social justice, and personal values. I believe the therapeutic relationship is key for a client to feel safe, trusted, and heard.
