Lauren Wise, LCSW

Lauren Wise, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
I’m a licensed clinical social worker and Army veteran, and I work with adults navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, and life transitions. A lot of my clients come in feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to make sense of what they’re carrying—and we slow things down together and start there. My style is conversational, honest, and grounded. I’m not the kind of therapist who just nods and takes notes—I’m engaged, I ask questions, and I help you connect patterns in a way that actually makes sense for your life. Therapy with me is a space where you don’t have to have it all figured out. I have a particular passion for working with veterans and men, especially around identity, emotional expression, and the impact of past experiences—but I welcome anyone who feels like this approach resonates.

Getting to know Lauren Wise

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy can feel awkward, and you don’t need to come in with the “right” words or a clear plan. We figure it out together. My style is conversational and engaged—I’m not silent or overly clinical. I’ll ask questions, reflect patterns back to you, and help you make sense of what’s coming up in a way that actually feels useful. I tend to balance insight with practical tools. Some sessions might focus on understanding deeper patterns, relationships, or past experiences, while others might be more grounded in coping strategies and navigating what’s happening right now. I also value honesty and realness in the room. You don’t have to filter yourself or perform. Therapy works best when you can show up as you are—even if that’s messy, unsure, or skeptical.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first few sessions are about getting to know you—what’s bringing you in, what’s been weighing on you, and what you’re hoping might feel different. We move at your pace and focus on what feels most important to you. From there, sessions tend to be conversational and collaborative. We might explore patterns in your thoughts, relationships, or past experiences, while also working on practical ways to manage what’s coming up day to day. Some days are more reflective, others are more focused on tools and problem-solving. I check in regularly about what’s working and adjust as we go. Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all, so we shape the process together in a way that actually fits your life.
