The provider is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and is currently working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. Their current employer is Change Within Reach. Hi, I'm Laurie Hughes, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. I work with tweens, teens, adult women, and couples who are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, life transitions, and relationship challenges. My goal is to create a warm, supportive, and person-centered space where you feel safe to be open—because that's when real healing starts. My path to becoming a therapist began with my healing journey. Working through my trauma in therapy and raising two children with ADHD and learning differences sparked a deep curiosity about how our minds work and how we respond to emotional wounds. That journey led me to shift from life as an entrepreneur to work that centers on helping others feel understood, empowered and cared for.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I see myself as both your advocate and someone who helps you become a stronger advocate for yourself. Whether you're working through painful experiences or navigating major life changes—even positive ones—I'm here to walk alongside you with compassion and care. I'm LGBTQIA+-affirming and committed to creating an inclusive, respectful space for everyone I work with.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our sessions, I take a collaborative approach—working together with you to set goals, explore what matters most, and tailor the process to your unique needs. I draw on evidence-based tools like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you build effective coping skills while also using psychodynamic techniques to uncover deeper patterns that may be holding you back. Whether we're easing immediate stress or exploring long-standing challenges, we'll decide together what feels right for your growth and healing. Building a strong, trusting relationship is at the heart of our work.
